ok, so I lost 2nd gear today in my yukon. when you take off from a stop light it takes off good but never shifts. it will go all the way to redline and never shift until you pat the gas a few times then it shifts to 3rd. and when I'm going 40-45 ten pull it down to 2nd it does nothing but sit at 1500rpms and never ingauges.

where can I get a new 4l60e from or what used ones will swap in? it's a 4x4.

i think theirs a special section for men seeking trannys. a used one should be pretty cheap, but heres what i would do if i were you...... ask around locally and find whos a decent tranny guy. or go to your dealership and ask to talk to him. talk to him/her where nobody else is really around and ask him about a rebuild on the side. he'll probably know exactly why your 2nd gear went out and the best route for you to go. our tranny guy charges about 500 for labor plus parts for a full rebuild. then you can get a shift kit at the same time. i put something called a jr in my 89 when i built that thing. it was a nice shift kit for a dd. 1200 here is a good price for a rebuild and that includes parts and labor under the table of course.
No way would I buy a used transmission, except as a core for a rebuild.

Neither would I, unless I'm driving it straight to the dealer for a trade in.
sounds good, but I've heard of guys getting it rebuilt then it breaks again in a year or so. so what about a 4L80 upgrade?

I've got about $3500 to since the bike I was buying got sold brfore I could pick it up. does anyone make a harness for my yukon to swap a 6.0/4L80E and the matching T/C?
You dony need an 80E, and it's not just something you drop in.
