I'm in the market to change out the stock trans cooler for a bigger unit. The stock one is tiny and located right behind the chevy bow tie, so it dosent get good air flow. There are many brands out there and I want to do it right the first time so help me choose a good one.
What do you use?

yeah that one, although if you live in a warm climate, you don't really need the thermal bypass.

go with that one. Its cheaper and still has the bypass.

I would still want it even if you do live in warmer climates because those units are big ones that may keep the trans temp to low. It's cheap insurance y'know?

I have that fucker on mine without the bypass and its fine on the road and everything, but as soon as I get in the sand and race it in 4hi that fucker is 275 degrees. Im sure for the normal person its great tho, everyone recomends it!

Why so hi in temp? Is your gearing correct?

I use mine in glamis and to tow big trailers...
So this might not work for me...hmm

I've got that Tru-Cool 40k unit with bypass, +3qt pan and an external filter on my 80e and it literally takes an hour of heavy throttle to bring it over 180*F at the test port. Now I don't have a whole lot of power on tap, but I really don't have an issue trying to wring what I can from her.

600hp/700tq numbers would be a totally different ball game.
