I gotta 75 k20 with a 203 transfer case. Just acquired a 205. I know I can get a kit for the 203 or simply swap to the 205 with some driveshaft mods. But do I have to change the front to take locking hubs? Need some help. Thanks.

Only if you want to be able to unlock the front hubs so that they can free spin.
I would suggest installing the lock outs but it is not necessary.

But with the 205 the front driveshaft will be disengaged right? 4wd to 2wd? Or does it still make everything spin and wear out/ less gas mileage.

You are still going to be spinning the front shaft if you don't have lock outs. It won't be engaged in the transfer case but everything will still be spinning.
