Okay everyone, here's all the weird lil bits I've been asked about for the ol' stock internal/built 4L60E...

TransGo HD2 - http://www.transmissionpartsusa.com/4L60E_HD2_Perfomance_Reprogramming_Kit_p/500-035935hd2.htm
Sonnax Servo Release Check Valve - http://www.transmissionpartsusa.com/700R4_4L60E_Servo_Release_Check_Valve_p/400-077701076.htm
Fwd/Rev Abuse Plugs - http://www.transmissionpartsusa.com/4L60E_Forward_or_Reverse_Abuse_Bore_Plug_p/400-007775421.htm
Pinless Fwd Accumulator Piston - http://www.transmissionpartsusa.com/4L60E_Pinless_Forward_Accumulator_Piston_p/400-07798701k.htm
1-2 and 3-4 Pinless Accumulator Piston (need TWO) - http://www.transmissionpartsusa.com/700R4_4L60E_Pinlees_Accumulator_Piston_Kit_p/400-07799803k.htm

I also got a heavier 3-4 accumulator as 4th SUCKS in these trannies! It firms up the 3-4 shift. The spring comes in a 5 pack it's like $7. With a billet OD servo you can get into 4th at high thottle!
Accumulator Springs -

I will order this TransGo piece also (tho' I prefer a Sonnax fix, it costs four times as much! it's the regulator...this other is the apply). It's a new TCC lockup spring, lockup valve, and drill bit to increase fluid flow for the TCC apply, it needs all the help to avoid that 1870 code that comes up sometimes....it will also firm up TCC lockup a bit too, which is good for towing/speeding about. I think it should be around $20-30. The Sonnax one makes the TCC lock ON/OFF only which is MUCH better but you need an $80 reamer to do it plus the $30 valve...so yeah, ain't gonna happen lol

Probably I'll get the aluminum TCC lockup snout also in lieu of the stock plastic crap. http://www.transmissionpartsusa.com/700R4_4L60E_Lockup_Solenoid_Snout_p/400-07794202k.htm

Also, I now have a hardened TransGo seperator plate...it's pretty slick. I needed it as my 1-2 feed hole is too large with my billet servos...so I'm going to keep that feed hole around .063-.070" for a lesser shift. http://www.transmissionpartsusa.com/4L60E_Valve_Body_Plate_1996_03_p/500-00035098b.htm

That's about all you can do for a stock 4L60E...

Once you open it you can get hardened pump vane rings, heavier 3-4 clutch springs to resist centrifugal apply in the lower gears to prevent burning, set end play properly, 3-4 clearances, etc.

That's aside from all the upgraded hardparts.

It goes on and on and on... :D

How hard to demod and get an HD?

With that size, a 10.5" rear, 9.25" IFS, and 4L80E would be better...

Eric,

I went to this site for the Transgo HD2 shift kit and it states that it is good for whatever year model through to 2002. I have a 2004, is this going to matter or should it be the same stuff? Also, where do you get the vette servos and/or the billet servos? I am going to start gathering parts soon, so I want to try to have it pretty much all together when I get ready to install.

What would I need to upgrade my 4l60e to a 4l65e?

LOL, well the biggest difference is the 5 pinion planets. If you plan pretty much N/A power the 4 pinion ones will be more than fine.

The 65E has a few other upgrades like better input/output shafts, revised valve body, better input drum, extra 3-4 clutch.

I don't see why the kit wouldn't work, I'd call TransGo to be 100% certain. www.transgoperformance.com

You can get the servos from here...
Billet Int - http://www.kdsperformance.com/supser700r44.html
Billet OD in that ebay link

Well, I don't see why it won't work either, but I will call TransGo.

Thanks for the link to the servos. I had actually found a link in another thread for these right after I posted the question. But thanks anyways.

And sorry for picking your brain so much, but you have helped me out a lot.

Sure, glad to assist. That's really about everything I can think of/found for a stock internal 4L60E to make it last.

I have nearly all that minus a few bits I need to install here shortly and I've got a few mods for performance. Tranny is in great shape and it's 100% TqMgt free also. :D

TqMgt pulls not only timing but also line pressure to soften WOT shifts...that sucks. The TransGo increases fluid flow to the 3-4 pack that like to burn and a heavier pump output slide spring to keep pressure constant over 5500rpm. I have an extra set of those springs I got with my hardened pump rings... if anyone wants those springs they're free. :D
