I have a 94 1500 4x4 with the 4l60 trans and it lost overdrive was wondering if a 97 4l60 was the same or what the differences are i also have a 4l60 off a 5.3 but was told that would not work just looking for some help thanks

Check to see if the 1997 trans is a one piece bell housing - or if the converter housing is not bolted to the case. My 93 4l60e was a one piece transmission that looked like a 700r4. The 99 and up have a bell housing the is bolted to the case. I think the 97 is fine, but do a search on interchangability for assured ness.

I did a seach, and 1993 to 1997 are the same.
