I had a 22" magnaflow welded in at a local muffle shop this friday. Now two days later, I am unhappy with the muffler. I wanted a 18" muffler but ended getting the 22" after talking to the shop guys a while. I should have went with my gut!. Any suggestions on how to handle this? Would it be unreasonable to "return" the 22" and pay to have a 18" welded on? Would they take a muffler back?

also what size inlet diameter for an exhaust tip? 2.75" or 3"? 2.75" are harder to come by.

What don't you like about it? I think you should give it more than two days before you start cutting it out.

Seeing as how it was recommended by the exhaust shop, go back and explain your not happy with the results. They should take care of it.

As far as exhaust tips. You'll only find them in half inch increments. A 3" tip slides perfectly over GM's stock 2.75" pipe size

Mufflers have a break-in so to speak, most get louder after a short time

Yea I really wanted an 18" but they told be it would be too loud. Now I think the 22" might be too quite. I don't know--kinda wish I had stuck to my guns.

Get the 18" with 4" slash cut rounded tips x 18" long, you'll be happy...

Ended up getting a 22" magnaflow. It's exactly how I wanted it to sound. I don't think I would gave liked a smaller one.

What size exhaust tip does anyone recommend? I'm looking at some powdercoated ones.

Muffler shop said they would do a swap out for the 18" for $75. Worth it?

Magnaflows are quiet mufflers in general. If you want it louder...keep what you have and run some long tubes without cats.

My 14" is pretty quiet, just enough to know its not stock.

man I didn't know your muffler was 14"...based off the volume I figured it was 18-22"

I have a 18" magnaflow dual 3" outlet. And it sounds great, not super loud, but loud enough that people can hear you comming. Also if you ever want to put headers and eliminate the cats, dont go with the 14", it will be crazy loud. My local meffler shop talked me out of the 14" and am super happy.

1 being stock - 10 being striaght piped.
Id say about a 5-6.

low deep tone at idle, low deep tone at cruise, and loud low tone at wot.
No complaints here.

i like mine! its 22" and dumped. nice daily drivin, but if i get on it you know it. it could be a tad louder but i figure once i change to long tubes and y pipe. it will be all good.

mines definitely not crazy loud with longtubes and no cats, i have that setup now. even with my cammed6.0 its not crazy loud i want it louder :imo click my signature for videos
