ok read sig for truck info. I will be doin my 5th set up. So im not new to car audio, but no i dont know EVERYTHING about it. so if ur gunna read this n bash me for maybe not knowin everything then stop reading and :yourself: Sorry for the rant, i posted on the smd forum and they started tellin me im new and i dont know anything and that pissed me off. lol

ANYWAYS back on topic, im doin bucket seats in the back so i will have the middle open for a box right there. Ill have enough room for 1 15. So instead of puttin a stupid kicker r watever i was thinkin of either a SMD AA 15, DC Level 5 r XL 15, Sundown Audio NightShade 15, or either a FI BTL N2 r N3 15. Ive already been told to get away from the N3 bc it will be used as a daily sub with music. so with the proper electrical and amp and box, wich would be the better one? if more info is need just ask. :shake:

Doing Tahoe rear buckets in my crew cab and using a single DC Level 3 12" ATM. Have been very pleased with my DC so far.

Maybe look into 2 10's ported or 2 12's if you want LOUD. If you looking for a good musical setup id look at a used 15'' XXX, or if you have the money just buy a new one. Throw a sundown saz 2500d on it, and youll be in business.

Kicker R?
Think the R was substituted for or...lol

The single Level 3 12" D1 in a 1.5 cube ported box to 34 HZ in my little cousins trailblazer screams on a 1 Ohm stable 1200w RMS audiobahn. 2 10s or 12s would be sick if you could work out the airspace and porting correctly, its what ive been contemplating once I can get the seats done and installed so I can really do some measuring.

I know somebody that has an SMD for sale, but I'll warn you, they want a huuuge box and AT LEAST 4kw to be of any use. DC Level 5's are a joke, we swapped out one for a Sundown SA (their 600 watt line) and it was 1 dB quieter, and he had 4000 watts. Nightshade and BTL are both solid subs.

The nightshade is super badass. I did an install with one of em a friend of mine got and good Lord was it loud. Not much for sq but damn that thing hurt my ears. I've heard the btl before and it was also super badass.

i do wanna run a rockford 2500cp at 1 ohm and they put out almost 4k. i was gunna do a 2 12 set up from the front dash back, but my guy in town said 1 bad ass 15 would do better. so i guess im gathering from the previous post, btl, nightshade, smd, r maybe evn a xxx 15? lookin at a 390 amp alt from dc power, and i will run all true 0 gage wire and exess power batteries.

ATM its the original seat with 2 "40" seats and just a 1.5 cube slot ported box between, waiting on responses to covering the Tahoes to get them installed and build a console for it. the other single 12 is small enough to fit between, ill see if i can get him to shoot me a pic of it and post it here.

This is when I had a single W6 10 in a pre-fab box sitting in it, dirty and looks like shit, I know lol

If it wasn't much for SQ, that was the installation, not the sub.

Who's telling you that amp does almost 4k? 2500, sure, maybe. 4k, absolutely not. Rockford recommends a 300 amp fuse, which won't hold prolonged usage at 4kw, not even a thought.

In terms of similar drivers, 2 12's will be louder than 1 15. It's more cone area, more motor force, and more efficient.

Word on the RF amp not putting out 4k. Maybe 2800-2900w on a good day with the wind.. I like RF amps but they are not hugely underrated by any means.

Sean say he buys two SPL oriented 12's and doesnt exactly have enough juice to power them both properly, would the 1 15 be better a option?

The one JL 10 was pretty good on SQ, fairly low, definitely no competition material, the plastic trim around the port created port noise, the box in it now is a little larger, the dc has a good sound, gets fairly loud, would definitely look/sound better in a box set up differently, the box in the TB has a good 1/4 mile+ carry on it, which is loud enough for daily for me Haha. I've got a pic of it raw ill post when I get to a computer, still waiting on him to send me the pic of it after we sprayed color matched bedliner.

If you're starving 2 subs vs appropriately powering 1, yeah, 1 would be better.

Shit I didn't build the box, a friend of mine built it. Just regular mdf box no covering. Idk man maybe it was just the loudness overpowering me.
Maybe the box sucked, or maybe it was a poor design, or maybe you hit the threshold of your ears. There is a point of loudness where your ear isn't clear anymore. Either way, I wouldn't base the sound quality of any given sub based on 1 installation, good or bad.
