Ok so yesterday i changed my fuel pump and filter cause come to find out the gas i had just filled up with had water in it. i have the pump in right with the hose up front hooked up along with the two on the pump and the filler and vent tubes secure. but now when its running i get this weird sound that sounds like water flowing but when i checked it out underneath not a drop is leaking. is this just how a brand new pump sounds like or did i do it wrong. oh and btw FUCK whoever decided to put an in-tank pump on an SUV. dropping a full tank absolutely sucked. but for anyone who may be doig this i would suggest using an old grease pump like you would for a turkey fryer and pumping the gas out into cans with that. it worked like a charm, after i got it down of course.

Your hearing a increase in fuel pressure, this is a normal sound which is usually accompanied by a slight "whinning" sound.

For future reference you can get a fluid evacuator from your local checkers, napa, o'rileys etc.

They require a deposit which is returned to you upon receiving said item back.

cool. well the noise is gone i think, havent turned the radio down to see. but im also wondering why my fuel gauge is still screwy even after i changed the pump? as far as i know its the shebang with the sending unit but i guess the problem is in the gauge itself?

Yep! Alot of people seem to think it's the sender. From what I've seen it's typically the guage which is faulty.

Alot of people have looked into this issue. Usually the guage acting like a hummingbird or just generally doing whack things such as spinning full circle indicate the guage issue. You could go with a brand new cluster...if you can find one...but there's a good chance it'll go bad again. One from a junkyard...well...might already be bad.
Seems the stepper motor in the back of the fuel guage is almost impossible toi get for these trucks....and that's what really needs to be replaced.
