As long as it is properly fused at 30 amps you got nothing to worry about if it draws 22 amps. It will recommend a larger wire size and breaker/fuses for inrush current . But as long as your not messing with the breaker/ fuses your protected it should work fine.

yeah, it will pull what it needs, you attempt to fuse it fairly close when possible but in this case the 30amp breaker will protect the wire from melting in the wall. We do this incase of a failure and it suddenly draws 80 amps or something on 30 amp wire, the 30 amp fuses/breakers will trip protecting the circuit.

It will only pull enough amperage to cover the load you place upon the supply. With a 50A circuit breaker you'll be fine. If you've only got a 30A breaker on the outlet, more than likely you'll be ok. If you aren't welding at the full capacity of the welder and maxing out the duty cycle you'll probably never know the difference unless you're the one paying the electric bill.

Don't ever use an extension cord with the welder unless it's rated the same as the breaker. Yes, you might get away with it once and others might do it but it's a good way to burn down a house or a garage or a project.

Should be a good welder. If you're only using flux core wire, throw out some extra dough and hook some gas up to it and try using it as a MIG. With some practice you'll be making some pretty welds that will really hold up well.

im an electrician. yes you can do this.

make sure your cord matches you dryer plug. make sure you are fused for 30A at your breaker box. plug in and start sparkin.

my dryer outlet was in my kitchen at the time. just watch out if you have small childern. keep them clear

this is how i welded in my roll cage in my 93 mustang. worked great. damn near the same welder you got...mine was a lincoln

so i'm assembling this right now. my 8/3 wire has an uninsulated ground wire. should i put this with the neutral? just cut it off and leave it alone? do i need to ground the metal backing piece on the welder receptacle?
