Just got most of my parts for my rear and was wondering what type of oil/brand/weight should i use? What should i run till i break my rear in for 500 miles and then what should i run after that? After breaking it in should i run synthetic? Also for limited slips i think you need some type of friction aid correct? What about for this detroit? Or do i not need anything due to the fact that its all gear driven?

My truck has a dana 60 w/a detroit...

After reading this review, I decided to go with Schaeffers 267..

I ordered 6 Bottles of Schaeffers 267 from Speed Partz.com over the phone. That way I knew they were in stock, and would ship today. Sounded like a small shop.

$8.38 a bottle, and they ship UPS ground. They're in the Cincinnati, OH area.

My rear takes about 3qts of fluid + an additional bottle of GM's Limited Slip Additive P/N 1052358

I just drop some valvoline 80/90 in mine. and it shouldn't need any addative since it has no clutches to it.

from what ive heard, you SHOULD use the regular ol gear lube for a 60...NOT synthetic. How it would act with syn, i dunno...probably the same? but im gonna keep running conventional in there.
