Getting a little detailing business going but I need to buy alot of good products, from polishes, to interior. I already have a PC w/ lake country orange, white, and grey pads. I want to pick up a green and yellow to add to the aresenal.

For polishes:
Poorboys ssr1, ssr2, and ssr2.5, would I need ssr3?

Carpet:
Buying a bissel little green machine.

Tires:
Poorboys bold n bright

Wheel cleaner:
just standard simple green

Plastics:
I dunno yet, maybe adams vrt or something similiar.

Glass:
Ammonia free windex, i'm a simpleton.

Soap:
Just dawn for a full detail, and meguiars gold class.

Clay:
of the shelf mothers, figured it will get the job done.

Metals:
Mothers and clearkote

Waxes:
have no idea what I should get, recommened something



Fill me in on different options and what not, any information is appreciated.

Heres my opinions....

For polishes:
Poorboys ssr1, ssr2, and ssr2.5, would I need ssr3?
1,2 and 2.5 are necessary. 3, I think I've used once. You may also consider some optimum polish too.

Carpet:
Buying a bissel little green machine.
Great little machine, but you still need something to pretreat it w/. Find a local prochem dealer and pick up some ultrapac traffic clean

Tires:
Poorboys bold n bright
Good choice. I like this stuff

Wheel cleaner:
just standard simple green
personal preference here I suppose. Ive been using spray n rinse diluted.

Plastics:
I dunno yet, maybe adams vrt or something similiar.
Poorboys Trim Restore and/or natural look

Glass:
Ammonia free windex, i'm a simpleton.
That works. Might want to give a microfiber glass towel a shot though

Soap:
Just dawn for a full detail, and meguiars gold class.
I dont think dawn is necessary ever, but again, personal opinion. Megs would be fine.

Clay:
of the shelf mothers, figured it will get the job done.
Not sure what they run, but if you want a couple 200g bars, I can do a good price

Metals:
Mothers and clearkote
Good choices

Waxes:

When doing details, I like to use EX and EXP. Reason being is that they are very simple to apply and remove and can be done quickly. Apply to the whole car w/ your black pad, then just go back around to buff off. If you want a carnauba for the pc, clearkotes carnauba moose wax is a great wax that works well via pc. If you want a hand wax, nattys paste wax is great, but dont rule out optimum car wax.... aother wax thats very easy to apply

Lemme suggest something else, if you're going to be doing this as a side business, buy in bulk! You will save yourself a lot of money. I offer a lot of products in gallon sizes, and when you compare how much you get vs what you spend, the difference is night and day. Trust me, you will pocket more money this way. Even if you have to adjust a couple items to get it in gallons, its worth it.

Might also consider stuff like a dust brush, carpet/upholstery brush, 0000 steel wool, etc.

What are the differences between EX and EXP?
Figured I'd spot treat with something like resolve, etc.

Is it necessary to buff the wax or is that basically the same as just removing it? Any real big differences?

please, please do not use Dawn in your wash bucket unless you plan on doing some heavey decontamination and buffing....that shit dries out paint sooo fast!...

as for waxes IMO....have them to use but use sealants on most your work instead...that way if you have repeat customers you can wax on top of that sealant....

The main difference between ex and exp is that ex contains carnauba, while exp is a pure sealant.

Just use a quality microfiber towel to buff/remove your wax/sealant residue.

for plastics, mothers preservant works really well, restores "white" looking black plastics and lasts about 3-4 weeks. smells nice too, which is always important.
