ok, found an 80e tranny for my truck about 100 miles away from me and i would have to drive to get it. thing is im 95% sure im right on this but tell me if im wrong before i go all the way over there to get it...would a 2002 silverado 1500HD w/ 6.0l have the 80e? i cant even see it having the 60e with the 6.0 but just want to be sure! thanks guys!

ha, nvm guys different question now the 4L80e is the same from 1999-2006 right...i found a 2006 4L80e with 4,500 miles for $800...

I think I remeber reading about the newer 80e's having improvements with the brake band? But in general, usually newer is better, GM makes subtle improvements every few years.

yea i just figured i wanted something newer even if it was the same because i found an 80e out of a 00 2500 non HD with only 22K miles but it has been sitting there since 2003 and it was only 150 bucks cheeper than the 06 so i might as well spend the extra 150 bucks for the 06...

is it just the internals that are different on the newer ones?
