Hey guys, so I was just finishing up a couple of projects I was working on recently and throwing ideas around what to build next and its probably gonna be a bagged nbs. But the snow just flew up here and the idea of building a third vehicle that I can only drive for half of the year is depressing haha. Got me thinking why not build something that im excited to put the insurance on in the winter rather than pissed I have to park the other cars. Im not talking just buying a sti or raptor that's easy but building something somewhat cheap that can handle anything the winter can throw at it and still not get washed everyday cause its worth 60k. The best ive come up with would be nbs 4x4 1500, try to keep it somewhat low center of gravity cause slidding sideways around all the empty steets is the funnest part of winter. engine 5.3- tuned basic bolt ons exaust ect, maybe port the stock heads a bit, cam and fast intake, maybe a small turbo could be fun to( don't need crazy power no traction most of the time), trans- just shift kit corvette servo( same reason not much traction so doenst need to be crazy strong), cant decide witch transfer case, awd would be sweet but I like to put it in 2wd to do some drifting, maybe the auto 4x4 tc? suspension- jd fab- mid travel kit with some good shocks, don't think full long travel would be worth it not jumping it or anything just need to soak up the bumps when the streets that don't get cleared all the time get really rutted up, some studded winter tires 33's would be perfect I think on a 20" rim to keep the sidewall small. Don't want to be sliding sideways and hit some clean pavment and rip the tire off the bead. Then the little stuff like heated seats dual batteries ect, What would you guys add, or start with something totally different? Say 10-15k budget?

Hmm I don't think that I would want to daily drive one of those. The fuel economy would be horrible, it would handle and ride bad, parts im assuming would be expensive and hard to get. They would be fun to drive somebody's for a couple hours but it would get old quick. Where would you park that thing haha. Also from a quick search they seem pretty expensive.

Why not? Id say probably 80% of the cars on the road in winter are worth over 10k hell escalades and bmws are over 100k and peope drive them in the winter. That's the point of this thread I don't want to drive a pos in the winter. I want to build something to be awesome and fun to drive in the winter. I picked 10k cause I think that's a happy medium you can build something pretty cool but no be too bummed if someone t bones you in an intersection. K new rules

1)you have to spend 10k ( no spending 500 bucks and buying hookers and blow with the rest)
2) Something you would want to drive everyday to work ect for the winter months( no unimogs or 6x6 fords haha)
3) handles well in ice, 3 ft of snow ect so on the back roads you can slide around and pretend to be ken block.

Mines in the first post what would you guys build?

THIS is what I want for winter.

Now, to fit your $10K budget requirement, I'd have to remove the traxs and pick up a set of Blizzaks, but, I'd still rather drive this in the winter over anything I currently own.
