Whats so bad about the Skyjacker kits?

I have had alot of people tell me via PM that the skyjacker kit isnt very good. What is the reasoning behind this? I plan on wheeling it offroad a decent amount and towing with the kit so it needs to be very structurally sound. The kit Im looking at comes with rear lift leafs dual steering stabilizer shocks and all four shocks for 800 bucks so to me it seems like a good deal. I dont know shit about these IFS kits, Im used to dealing with old school leafs and coil spring/trailing arm setups. If there is a really good reason why I shouldnt run them then what should I wait and save my money for? Again it has to be a VERY strong front drop cradle.

PS I did a search but as you can imagine typing in "skyjacker lift kit" comes up with about 8 pages worth of stuff...

They drop there front diff down at a wierd angle. Judging by what I've read on their website about the install instructions it looks like they drop one side 4.5" but the other side is dropped a lot less. The reason I say this is that the passenger side uses a common size cv spacer at about 1.5" but the driver side is like 3 1/4". I've heard from quite a few people that this tends to eat the seals on the front diff. I would look into another kit since the price is comparable to other kits out there.

Cody get the fabtech. I know you have to be able to fit in your garage so that is an issue otherwise I'd say get the pro comp kit that drops the front differential a full 6".

The fabtech kit rides amazing. My buddy runs it on his truck and it rides extremely well even on the fabtech shocks it came with. It drops the front differential 4.5" and you can crank it the extra 1.5". Here's a few pics of his truck:

The reason I was going to go with the skyjacker is because of the price but if isnt going to be a good kit Ill jsut throw some keys in it and call it good for a while. I dont want to spend the cash on a lift right now like I want. Ill jsut run keys for now then when I get my house throw a cst lift on there and run 37s like I really want. My damn accessories and winch are going to cost me enough as it is. But I am getting a good deal on my wheels and tires :D

You can get the procomp kit for like $1050 shipped and it's a damn good kit. You just have to do a little welding.

Guess Ill go research that a bit, welding doesnt bother me Ill just have to dig up a welder.

not saying this is the cheapest place and you have to add in shocks along with the fact that I have an autotrac truck

There's at least 2 guys on here that have bought from him online. Hopefully one of them will chime in.

EDIT- Here's his old listing. See if he'll give you that same price:

Hmm if I can pick it up for 1050 then Ill go ahead and lift it otherwise 33s it is:(
Some guy on FSC just found the Superlift FIT kit for $950 in the catalog for 4 wheel parts. Its on page 52 or 53 in their catalog. But their website says different. I'd say give them a call and make sure you get the catalog price.
I would search ebay and all around the net for the pro comp kits. Definatly get a full drop kit if your only going to add a 6" lift. Also I think cst is far over rated. I dont see any reason why the cst is sooo much better than any other mild size pro comp lift kit. The do have them with some steering supports but I'm still not impressed. Im pretty bored tonight at work I will do some searching right now im curious.
The main thing about the CST is that it has a 1 piece subframe, build quality might be better too
Im not going to be taking my truck off any sweet jumps or anything so I dont need a kit that is absolutely bullet proof, just needs to take so hard hits from sliding off into ruts and stuff. Im really leaning towards teh pro comp full drop and run some 35s then when I get my house next year put some keys in it and 37s when I can adjust the height of my garage so it will fit.
