wheel backspacing on NBS trucks

I've got a 2000 silverado and I am looking at putting a set of 20x8.5 wheels on my truck that have +12mm offset which is 5.16" of backspacing. Since I'm new to the nbs trucks, I dont know what will fit and what won't. So will those wheels be fine on my truck and not stick out?

From my understanding, somone correct me if im wrong. i think you need at least 5.5" of backspacing. So take 8.5 add an inch to that because they are normally always an inch wider. that makes 9.5-5.16+4.34. I think the magic number your workin towards is 4".That would probably work if you rolled your fenders. Cause your only over .34

With the right tire, you should be fine. I wouldn't go any larger than a 255/35/20 (not saying you can't, just that I wouldn't).... you may still have go roll the fenders, but you won't know till they're on. Just curious, what suspension mods?
It will be ok on a stock truck and sit flush with the outside of the fenders. It will not be optimal on a lowered truck.
I forgot to put what size tires I planned on running and how low my truck is. My truck has a 3/5 drop on it and if i end up running 20" wheels, I wanted to run a 275-45-20 tire.
Do 40mm that you mentioned on pt.net
if you want the 8.5" rims to tuck.....6" of bs. the ones your looking at w/ 5.16" might stick out a little
