Wheel balancing

1020 Views 12 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  04crewcabz71
I just mounted a new set of 285/50r20 cooper zeon ltz on 20x12 moto metal 962s. I took them to a shop to have them balanced and they got 3 of them just fine with 5-6 oz but the fourth one they said was off by 370 oz and they couldn't balance it. Is it more likely that I have a bad wheel or a bad tire? They weren't much help in diagnosing the problem, I'm guessing because I didn't buy my wheels or tires there.. Any help would be appreciated.

i've seen a lot of weight to balance a tire but in 5 years in the tire business i've never even seen anything over 30oz. so 370oz is not possible. you realize thats over 23 POUNDS of wheel weight right?

go somewhere who knows what they are doing. there is no way that wheel was bolted to the balancer correctly. or something else is going on
there are ways to center the wheel on the balancer without using the hub. but if the hub is off thats a serious issue. but you can also tell if the hub is off as the wheel will move on the balancer as it spins and can easily be seen by eye.
