Which kit to get?

974 Views 14 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  christayse
I wanna to a 2-4 drop on my 02 Silverado Ex-Cab. Looking at the Ground Force and the Hotchkis kit. I know there is a price difference but which is better or prefered. Also how are the shocks on the Ground Force kit? I was thinking about the edelbrock ISA's. Need your opinions, looking to do this here soon.

Thanks All

I've heard that the Hotchkis kit is a great one. Havent heard much about ground force though.
have you looked at belltech and djm?
i know they are really good kits and got some good shocks as well. :imo
Hotchkis, DJM, or McGrauhey's(sp.?) kits. They are the 3 best ones out there for this truck. It all depends how you want to drop the front and with what parts..... i.e if you want it to ride real well, then get the DJM kit, and if you want a stiffer ride, then get a drop kit with maybe drop coils.

as far as shocks, get Doestch Tech's or Bilsteins.
I've heard good things about Ground Force, but Hotckis is more perfromance oriented if you're going that route.
i have had no problems with my hotchkis kit... but make sure when you do the drop you leave your bump stops in...

I have none .... no problemo man.
Did you leave the stock bumpstops in or the ones they give you with the kit?

I think he was just being silly. You have to replace your bumpstops with the button type ones that come with the kit.
I'm not being silly at all... I'm serious..... I pieced my kit together, and after the drop coils in the front, the stock bumpstops were being sandwiched holding the truck up in front. I took out the front bumpstops completely and with the stiffness of the 3" belltech coils, I have still never rubbed.
mine arent in either... seriously... i have no front OR rear bumpstops.... i will rub in front when going over big bumps though.

true... but your kit rides a little softer than mine.... in the rear, my pumpkin hits the bed support before the bumpstops hit..... one of these days, I'll get under there and notch it
so, how hard is it to take out the bumpstops? do you have to cut them out or do they unbolt?
bumpstops unbolt. ground force and belltech are owned by the same company. i had the belltech on my red truck, i actually liked the parts in the ground force kit better than the kit i had on my truck.
Do you have to take out the bumpstops on the front with a 2 inch lower control arm drop???
