I talked to sounddomains online store and they said that inorder to change my HU I need to buy a head unit relocator kit and keep the stock radio somewhere else in the truck??? That seems ridiculous, is there anyway around that? I dont care if i lose the door chime, and I think I can just buy a door chimer somewhere anyways.

what year truck do you have? Also, check to see if your door chime comes out of the drivers side door or not and get back to us

Its a 2004, Ill check on the door chimes but if you getting at wether i have RDS I do, its not bose but I am 99% sure it does use the door speaker. And one of the modules you posted would work but its like a 100 bucks, that seems soooo ridiculous to me. GM is going in the wrong direction if I have to buy a 100 dollar part just to install an aftermarket cd player.

you could get the $60 relocation harness. You could just get that $100 part and eliminate the radio altogether. Just remember you still need a $16.99 dash kit and the antenna adaptor

well i have had 3 different units in my truck and on 2 of them I used a regular harness on it. Lost the door chimes but that was it. No air bag issues and whatnot... I used a GMRC-01 that has the built in speaker for the door chime and it worked just fine. For some reason shops were thinking you had to keep your factory radio in the truck but I am proof that is bullshit and a waste of money and space.

Btw I have an 04 gmc...

its cuz the manufactures of the kits tell us what to do and we dont want damage claims against us for an airbag blowout. They tell us that if we dont keep the radio we could have no bags, just pop-for-the-hell-of-it bags, no locks, and check engine lights. Hell the new Trailblazers and full sizes need a module to just lock and unlock the doors without a ton of modifications. If the module isnt hooked up perfectly and grounded away from the alarm itself, you can get all types of issues. Ive heard of them trying to downshift at highway speeds , trying to kick into 4lo, not going into gear, doorlocks on crack, etc
