I have a 1989 4.3 Chevy Scottsdale and I want to swap a 5.7 out of a complete 1990 Silverado . What do I need from the 5.7 engine & body to do this well deserved swap into my 89 Scotty

I already have the 350 and I want to stay with it. I’m looking to just swap the 5.7 into the 4.3 engine bay. I actually have the entire running driving truck that the 5.7 is still in. It’s a newly rebuilt 5.7 too.

Just swap as much as you can, the motor mounts are direct bolt on. You'll need exhaust, ecm, as much of the wiring harness as you can. Transmissions will bolt up without a problem. It should be the easier end of the scale as far as swaps go..

If you need any wiring help Gearhead-efi.com has all of the wiring diagrams you will need.

Maybe I’m not explaining myself. They are basically the exact same truck. Even the wiring is the same. I think all I need is the computer out of the 90 and pull the fully assembled 5.7 engine and place it into the 4.3 engine bay. But I’m just making sure I’m not missing anything.

I can't think of anything you are missing, the TBI motors are pretty simple. As long as both vehicles use the same ECM then you won't have any problem swapping them.

It sounds like you have everything you need. If you run into any problems (which I doubt) then I'll see if I can help.

Thanks . I’ve been checking into the different sensors and attachments. They all cross over from the 4.3 to the 5.7. Already have a new distributor, coil and other pieces for the 5.7. It’s a running engine still in the truck. So as soon as I have an open week at the shop I’m swapping them out. Then all 4 of my trucks will be 100% finished.
