Anyone regret lifting?

Like the title says, does anyone regret lifting their truck? I was wondering because last time I had a lifted truck it rode terrible. So bad that I just gave up on trying to make it ride better and just traded it in. That was a few years back and I'm sure lift kits have come a long way since. I was looking at a procomp 6 inch and 325/60/18 Terra Grapps. The new truck rides so nice I just dont want regret it. Thanks!

I just put a 5" RCX on with Bilstiens on my 2011 GMC Sierra CC and it rides better than before. I had a 2003 with a Fabtech didn't think the ride was to bad but regreted it from a gas mileage stand point. I Love the new truck it is the perfect hieght and hoping the MPG's don't get effect to bad just going to 33's instead of 35's like I had on my 03.

Good Luck

If you are carting around baby seats I could see it getting old fast
This is what was the issue with my truck after I lifted it...it wasn't a huge deal, but it just got old and I got tired of the axle wrap from the lift blocks and just little shit. I loved how it looked and rode other than that, but it isn't like I keep a vehicle for long anyways...

I love driving lifted trucks, but for me I just got tired of the lifted DD...I think between the worse mpg, jumping in and out, and the lack of power (even with gears my Tahoe was a pig...prolly from the system and sound deadening weighting it down) I don't think I would want another lifted DD unless it was a diesel.

Horrible investment, old people can't get in, ifs lifts for the most part isn't going to to make your truck that much more capable off-road, parking garages are a no go in some cases...

I want another lifted vehicle but will wait until it's a weekend ride :imo

I agree with this, I hated the way my 07 NNBS 1500 rode after my 7.5 RCX, loved the way it looked but hated DDing it... traded it in on my leveled DMAX, I will not lift another DD but I will lift my 82K20, it will be a weekend toy

No regrets.

A lifted truck should ride no different than a stock truck (with the exception of wider tires grabbing cracks/holes in the road), since similar to stock suspension geometry is maintained in most cases, it is just moved downward 6+ inches. The problem arises when you try to squeeze that extra couple of inches out of your lift by cranking or adding spacers which increases the preload on the suspension and changes the angle of the control arms, making the ride rougher.

My 01 with 8" and 38s rides better than it did when it was leveled and 285s, and better than my 03 when it was leveled.

With that said, I would not want to DD a truck as big as mine, most I would want to DD is 6" and 35s maybe. The only real reason I do not want to DD my truck, is because it is much too hard to keep clean with the wide tires.

Only when i tried to load up a grizzly into the back.

hit gas -> start up ramps -> wheelie into the bed -> hit brakes -> check boxers...

Sounds like you need longer ramps. No problems getting my 450 into my truck, or just find a ditch to back the back tires into, instantly dropping it the depth of the ditch.

Only thing I regret is buying my leveling kit, should of just bought a full suspension lift the first time around !!!!

Love my truck and don't regret lifting it. Yet. I still have my daily driving stuff, but I live in the country and when I go to town, nothing's too crowded. I still fit in most parking garages.

But I'm going off to school later this year. Possibly in LA. I know it's either A) Have it be a pain in the ass. B) Sell it.

Option B is where I find myself regretting everything. You don't see a return when you turn around and sell it with everything on it. It's a major waste. I'll never get half of what I've put into it. That's why I'm still weary about colormatching. I just dropped some major cash on subwoofer's and my deck, but at least I can take that stuff out and throw the stock stereo back in.

Do like most kids freshman year, live in a dorm, with no car. Work, and save up for a DD, just store the truck at home.

Surprisingly yes. I loved how it looked when it was just a 2 inch BL on 305's. I wish I would have never gotten the $ and said to myself "Well I've always wanted a lifted Tahoe."

It's not that it doesn't look good, or that it's the gas, it just gets old jumping all the time. Looked clean as fuck before.

But I wouldn't change anything on mine now, just wish I would have thought twice and put the money used to lift to other things like savings.

Look at how many guys lift their trucks, then take them back to stock. Seems to be fairly common on this forum. I had a lifted Powerstroke on 37's and it got old.

Poor ride, poor fuel mileage, expensive tires, decreased power, added stress to suspension components from said huge tires....It just isn't practical.

As a compromise I leveled my truck with 33's now and I intend to leave it at that.

false statement. you must use the throttle to encounter axle wrap.
