Frustrated with Wait4Me Tune

Well as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. My experence with Wait4Me was not what I expected. When I ordered the tune, I wanted to plug it in and be done with. I do not have extensive mods, just a CAI, so I figured this tune would be pretty cut and dry.

I installed the new PCM Saturday, and everything seemed fine. After a few WOT runs, I noticed my 1-2 shift slipped like no tomorrow. Downshifts were fine. Speed limiter was gone... But the 1-2 shift bothered the hell out of me. I talked to the Admin at Denalitrucks.com and he concured that transmission slippage has been a complaint with these tunes.

I'm not posting this to bash Jesse, he's got hundreds of happy drivers out there, i'm just frustrated that the tune isn't right the first time. I've sent him several emails and he hasen't responded back to me since I paid. I understand that he deals with hundreds of emails daily, because he's the cheapest guy in town.

I don't want to dick around and send it back, and see if he gets it right. I'm going to send the W4M PCM to Westers, and have Butch over there tune it. He has an AWD '02 Sierra Denali as well and he wrote me in an email

This is a tune that I've been testing and tweaking on my truck with Lyndon for a couple of years now. The initial tunes were developed on his dyno of course, but we've applied everything learned from this "real world" testing to all the tunes that Lyndon does.
You will be impressed!!!
My other thought was Nelson - but I've seen a few :( with Nelson threads lately.

Anyone else here have a Westers?

Again, sorry for being so long, and I don't want to discourage business from Jesse - I'd just like people to know in the future to address the transmission slippage issue with him before purchasing.

I put my W4M tune in about a week ago and have had no problems with it... I smoked my tranny two nights ago because my nitrous wasnt set up rigth and I sprayed a 125 shot right through the 1-2 shift. the chutch pack went bye bye ....

Same problem here except mine was from 2nd to 3rd took tune out and put stock back in and ordered from someone else. I will not bash anybody but I will post the results from the second tune. All I got at the track with the first tune was 1/10th faster and the same speed as before the tune, not to mention the normal driving condition was wierd and no kickdown after 60mph. Like you said you get what you pay for.

did you remove TM?

Sorry for your bad experience matt....I loved my W4M but only enjoyed it for a few months...good luck with the new tune.

I had no problem with my tune for my CC but my Tahoe is taking for ever to get tuned. I sent it to him over a month ago and still nothing

Sent him a spare PCM and my Tahoe PCM so he could copy the image. I have my PCM back but still no tune.

I really hope I don't run into any issues with slipping shifts.

Interesting new development. I sent my W4M PCM to Westers in Massachusetts for a retune today. I asked Butch..

Now, will I have to go through the security and crank relearn? I was surprised that when I got my W4M, nothing was needed. I swapped it in and the truck fired right up, and never gave me a SES light for the crank relearn...? What the heck did that mean?
He replied...

Oh boy!! If the security relearn procedure doesn't come up on a pcm swap, that means the GM security system is disabled in the tune. Three years ago, we used to shut the security off until we learned how easy it was to steal the trucks! Now we never shut it off unless specifically asked for, like in a race vehicle. So yes, you will need to do the security procedure. But, since the crank relearn ses (P0300) code didn't come up, this pcm shouldn't need that. No code P0300, no need to do the crank relearn.
That's nice to know my W4M tune had security disabled without me requesting it. Wicked. :nono:

As long as the alarm works with the new tune, why would the security be disabled? Never even heard of a Security Relearn Procedure. The only thing you should need with a new tune is a Crank Relearn Procedure, which I still have yet to do on my truck. If security systems are an option, aren't all of them seperate modules anyway? I have a Clifford alarm and it works flawlessly, and believe me I've tested it many times.

Haven't had any problems with Jesse, sent it back and got a retune done for free minus the cost of shipping. It'd be easiest to email Hannah, his wife at hannahbubb@yahoo.com . I usually got responses within 24 hours. I would have to agree with you that the customer service isn't that great. The only limiting factor with my application was money, so I really had no other choice but to go with W4M. I would go with Nelson anyday, as long as I had the money. Nelson contacted me directly with answers to my questions even though I was not ordering from him. Many times I specifically asked questions from Jesse, even writing him a letter and sending it off with my PCM to get retuned, asking a few simple requests (i.e. telling me the shift points for the tune) and he still never replied or let me know. Hannah seems to be more customer oriented :imo. I got more service ordering my LS1 fan harness from Nelson than I did ordering my PCM from Jesse. End of story

Well Jesse told me he get's 300 emails a day and tuned over 8000 vehicles last year so he stays backed up. He helped me tune my truck, we still tryin to get my bugs worked out. Man he is a really friendly fella, and said he does everything he can to help customers. Just try to get in touch with him he will help you up..... He knows his stuff... He told me I was the hardest most aggravating truck he has ever tuned. (hahaa) Good Luck on finding the porblem.

Not that I don't think Jesse is capable of "getting the bugs worked out"

I just don't have the patience. I now consider the $158.10 I sent him, the price for a core. Westers has it now, and are in the process of flashing over the W4M tune. They waived the core charge, so i'm only out around $30 bucks total... if I went with them in the first place.

I'll post the results when I get the Westers Tune.

Installed the Westers yesterday.

Much better. Good crisp shifts, throws you back in the seat at launch. Tow/Haul set to 5800 rpm shifts. I'm very, very happy. It was more money, but definiatly worth it.

Glad it worked out. :read:

That sounds like some FUD.

Security and Crank Relearn aren't related.

Did you notice a power difference between the w4me or the Westers?

Self tuning is always another option, tune for your friends and let them pay for your equipement.

It's been a while since i posted on this -

The Westers has not given me any problems. I find myself playing in the tow/haul ass mode more than often (5800rpm shifts, nuts 1/4-1/2 throttle response).

The Westers has MORE getup and go than the W4M i've noted.

The Westers has a snappier shift to it, 1-2, 2-3.. Almost tire barking, if I didn't have AWD.

The Westers hasn't given me a Crank Relearn MIL to date, and I don't believe it will now after almost a month.

So far, to date, running with the Westers for almost a month
