I had recently taken a trip to NC, i noticed on the way down I saw my gas gauge wiggling pretty fast. Its only wiggling about 1/16th of an inch back forth. Its still doing it after a week. Not sure what it could be, I just replaced my fuel pump, the whole deal not just the pump.

Kinda sucks cause I dont have my tools down here. Wont be here until late June or early July.

Any ideas?
Thanks

i know some people have a problem with the stepper motor in the guages going bad

i think when they go back they start to move back and forth like that but im not 100% positive on that

meangreen mine does that too..i think it is just the gas moving around in the tank but the gauge moving back and forth constantly i would think would be something else

when i cleared my needles, the same thing happened to me. the little motor that controls the guage just goes bad. i've been told their very inexpensive from the dealer.

Not for a long time now there are chambers in the tank to stop slosh..

sorry for the post dig, but i just bought my wife a 99 escalade & the needle does this wiggle. it also jumps from empty to full when i first turn the key. would the stepper motor cause both these problems?
is the stepper motor in the cluster? if so i should be able to just change the cluster, right?

would be a good place to start, and yes in the cluster.
