I'm new to the forum and have found some great info in here. I just bought a 2014 Silverado 1500 4x4. I'm looking at putting a lift but not sure between a 4" or 6" lift. I don't want to break the bank but want a lift that still delivers a close to stock ride. Also what tire sizes to avoid having to do any trimming.
Any help is greatly appreciated

Depends on what wheel/tire combination your wanting to run? For the money the Zone offroad and Rough country kits are both good
Wheel/tire combo will depend on the lift I go with I'm thinking. I would like to tuck a 33" tire under it without having to do any trimming. I still want a good ride though. Was thinking about going with the 6" Rancho but don't know much about them other then what I have read.

I would just get the 5 inch rough country. Perfect for 33s. Rancho is good as well just more money and not gaining much. Are you wanting to run a 20x9 or 20x10 wheel? Check with a vendor on here and you might even get a discount on a rough country. Also just noticed today that rough country has a 6 inch now for same price as 5 inch so I would probably look into that as well.

Top spacers net lift equal to their thickness (1/2” spacer = 1/2” lift). Bottom spacer give lift double the size of the spacer, so a 1 inch spacer gives 2 inches of lift.
How does the position of the spacer change the amount of lift you get? A 1 inch spacer should net 2 inches of lift regardless of whether it is put on the bottom of the strut or the top.

I thought the same. My RCX level kit came with a 1" lower spacer and a 1/2" top spacer and I got exactly 2.5" of lift.

So I am seriously considering a mcgaughys 7in for my '13. I have heard a few thing but wanted to clarify.
1.I've heard people suggest the beltech 2" strut to make it 9" but say you can't run factory upper control arm
2. Would I clear 20x12s with 35s?

even the economy kit does?

Mcgaughys has had some issues with the struts in that kit. Yes even the economy kit can be set at 9", but many have failed very quickly. They have fixed the issue, but a lot of the kits being sent out still have the bad struts. If you happen to get the bad ones, they will send replacements but you have to install them. I used Bilsteins instead and love it. Also with the economy kit set at 9" you will squat.
