i have the underseat storage in my 11 crew cab and I don't want to lose that storage but would like to add some bass. Is it possible to fit a shallow mount sub behind the rear seat?

Pretty much. Aside from regular cabs, the only thing you can fit behind seats is some amps, at the bottom of it.
I'm considering converting the bottom of my jumpseat into a sub like the JL Audio Stealthbox does but for way less than the $600 they want. Just doesn't seem like enough enclosed space to me though.
There is literally no room be hind your back seat. Throw one in the bottom of your center console if you don’t want to loose the space in the back.
