Timing chains?

Something got me thinking about this and wonder if I should worry and plan or just keep going.

I have a 95 Yukon 2 door 4x4 with about 175k miles and my wife drives it daily, mostly city miles. It has the sbc 350.

Then we have a 2003 5.3l flex fuel suburban LTE with 236k miles.

I recently bought a 2012 Yukon xl Denali with 76k miles and the 6.2l engine.

I think it's the Denali that got me doing because I think I came across something a while back talking about timing chain and 100k miles. I can't for the life of me believe I'd have to worry about the chain in the 6.2l for a long time, but I can't gone through all maintenance time frames either. Just sold a 99 k1500 burb with 276k miles and it was still running strong.

In any case what are people seeing in all of these engines? I just rebuilt a sbc 350 for my 1960 suburban and of course installed new chain and gears, but don't recall the old ones being overly worn, no clue on mileage on that engine. It is a 70's block.

Due to the short length of them, and the fact there chains it’s really unessary to change unless you’re in there for some reason. Like say changing the oil pump or cam, it’s only $40 for an LS6 chain go for it.

But the two LS are light years better than the 350. The lifter and oil pump will fail before the chain ever becomes a problem on the 5.3 and 6.2.

But 100,xxx service is recommended for belts, like older 4 bangers and v6s. I’ve yet to see a timing chain ever fail on an LS. Seen some slack on 300,xxx plus work trucks. But like I said if you’re in the front cover, there cheap enough that it’s good to change.

Is that a vortex or TBI?
