Hi All,

Just curious what makes the 4x4 Silverado or Sierra 2500HD's higher in front than the 1500's? I know it's not suspension, becuase you can see that the actual body sits higher. I have heard from some that GM put's a front end body lift of some sort on the 2500HD and 3500HD trucks. Whether or not its true I dont know. If it is true, I wonder if I could get the 2500HD/3500HD GM parts and put them on my 2003 Silverado Z71 to make my stock truck level??? If it isnt true, maybe one of you folks know of a Body Lift Kit just designed for the front of the truck to level it out? Any ideas or suggestions are very much appreciated.

Welcome to the site.

Actually, the frame is taller on the 2500HD pickups. That is why you notice the difference in height between the HD and the 1500 pickups.
You have a couple of options for your truck as it sits now:

1: tighten your torsion bars alittle, just to level out your truck and make the front sit even with the back. This will stiffen the ride just a bit, but on most trucks, owners say they prefer the new stiffer ride better and it may handle a bit better than being real soft in the front.

2: you could get a set of torsion bar index keys (ford keys). These replace your existing torsion bar factory keys and will increase your front height.

Both of these options will probably require a frontend alignment afterwards. There are a couple of threads in this forum to tell you more about each option for your truck. Do a search on either and see what you come up with.

Good luck.

Hi all,

Thanks for the info. I will go the route of the Torsion Key's/Bars. I currently have the FORD Key part number that I got off another site. My only concern with messing with the torsion keys was front end problems. Some say they havent had an issue and others say they have. I wonder if the folks who have had the problems are those that didnt get the truck alligned after replacing the keys or cranking up the stock keys? By the way, no one commented on a front end body lift. Does such a thing even exsist?

Sincerely,

Pete
