you could clip the back of the plastic on the tails themselves, but the 03-06 tails have a spot for that peanut bulb iirc, i did that on mine. i hae an 02 silverado, and when i got the 03 tails, i carefully cut the little tabs a little wider for my harness. worked fine, but i had a friend who had an extra harness, so i just swapped it out, then i had full use of the tails

 

Yeah. Seems like my only option is to try to carefully shave the plastic on the tail light so I can slip my bulbs in.

 

Yup... All you need to do is shave a little off the socket (not Taillight) and its a perfect fit... If you google, you can find what wires to tap into for the little corner light...

 

I probably won't worry about the corner light right now.

I would not want to shave the tail light for the same reason you don't want to mess with the harness.


just get the right harness and all your hassles are solved. If it's worth doing, then do it right.

The harnesses are like 40 bucks for both em. Well worth it IMO. They require no modification to get em to work on a Sierra, just unplug the Sierra ones and plug in the Silverado ones.

This, not worth the risk of fuggin up your harness or lights IMO

 

get the harness cause u might get hassled because just having the tail lights and no extra little bulb, made it not so visible. plus i think the extra bulb looks good imo. I originally had 03 tails and cut the taillight housing. a few months ago, i got brand new 05+ tails with the harness. either way, its better than 03 sierra tails

 

I got the harness on mine just because I am picky about little shit like that. Either way they will look better when you get them installed.

 

I already got it done. I just shaved a little on the tail light. Not losing anything because I got the lights for free anyway.

I just put tape over the peanut light spot. Looks good. Best tailights gm ever made
