03 factory stereo AUX?

I've searched and seen AUX inputs installed if you have XM or another slave unit. My 03 has a button that says AUX and I have an empty socket in the rear of my head unit. Is there something that just plugs in there, or does someone know what pins I could hook to?

That aux button will only work/ function with the rear entertainment with the DVD player installed. That empty plug space is for that. It seems to be a leftover from the SUVs as I don't think many, if any of the GMT800 pickups got factory DVD. You can still do 3.5mm input but you won't access the function via the radio's aux button.

Factory DVD was an option with the 4dr truck just as any suburban. Extra cabs I don't think I ever came across one with it.

I wired in AUX in my truck using the rear DVDS. Works great and well worth it if your not gonna do an after market radio.

Now I added a sub, it's sounds great. But I'm gonna go after market DD. Since I have one laying.

Dang, I was hoping that I could find a plug to go in the other socket and do it that way. If I pick up a factory slave unit, cd, cassette, will the aux start working? That would be fine and just use the inputs and wire in a 3.5.

Hmm. I've never seen it in the trucks, so I didn't know. Now, when you say you wired it in, do you have the factory DVD player, but just spliced an audio input somewhere inline so you can access it via the Aux button?

Yes they came in trucks. But so far I've only noticed them in the crewcab ones.

My rear entertainment must be on in order for me to use my six plug. Comes in crystal clear. If my kid falls asleep on long trips I just flip it back up but leave it on.

They also make an adapter to run AUX off a stock radio. But for the price it was not worth it for me. I worked my own up in less then an hour and that was soldering all my connections.

I'll try to find the thread that shows it step by step of how to wire it in.

I believe you can also do it if you have XM too. It just needs an AUX source such as dad or XM.

Edit.... Here's the link I followed.

Ya, I installed it in my '03 via the line-level audio inputs on the XM plug. Worked great though it is accessed by switching to XM and plugging in the cord. I was even able to fit it into the faceplace for a modern factory look. There isn't much space on the 6-disk BOSE faceplate though.

I'd be fine just having 1, would to care how to access it. Is there a write up on this? Seems that other (on ls1 forum) was for a different radio than what I have.
