Good Morning. My 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500hd is blowing hot air out of AC vent on passenger side only. The truck has dual climate control slide bar to control AC temp on left side and right side. I replaced the blend door acuator below the glove box area, no change. Driver side gets cold air passenger side gets hot air. I moved the slide bar and noticed the acutaor actually moves on the left for the driver side, but the one on the right for the passenger side slide does not move at all. Any suggestions? Could it be the main control that controls the actual slide temp controls? Many thanks as always.

Have you recently changed your battery or disconnected power? If so, disconnect power again for about 5 minutes. Then when you re-connect start the truck and Do Not touch the AC controls for a couple minutes. They system does a calibration cycle and if you adjust anything during that it causes problems.

Well Tried it and no workie! Would unplugging the BCM connections and re-connecting make any difference if they have any role in the AC functions? Any other advice would be greatly appreciated. When I use the slide temp adjustment the one on the left moves on the acuator i can feel it moving with my fingers on it, but the right one does not move at all. Brand new actuator installed. Thanks again!

thanks, I am leaning towards a malfuncting climate control module given on one side of the switch relay not working properly, just hot air on passenger side. Everything I have researched may lead to this part being the problem child, given I tried 2 actuators already.

Sir, thank you for your response. I do believe you nailed it. The blend door I need to get to is on top of the dash below the duct work. Taking the dash off to get it is a bear and very time consuming. Going to attemp to enter and see if I can reach the blend door from where the sterio is and attemp to unplug it and see if I can get it to unlock. I had success doing this on a Honda that was not so buried in the dash. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think that's a blend door. Both driver and passenger blend doors are replaceable w/o having to disassemble the dash, just need to remove the cover along the bottom. The mode door also is relatively easy to replace. The one buried in the dash is the recirculation door, which is unlikely to be the source of your problem.

The driver's side blend door actuator is, IIRC, along the front of the dash, just above the hump.
First hit from googling "gmt800 replacing drivers blend door actuator"

Thank you for your quick response. I already changed the actuator above the hump. Is there (2) down there one for the right and one for the left? Problem is the passenger side vents are blowing hot air, the driver side is blowing good cold air. The re-circulation button when hit circulates air as it should. Greatly appreciate all your help! Thanks Keith

I was able to see the recycling actuator by removing the passenger vent and it is under the air vent tubing. This one for sure would be a beast to change if needed, would need to remove the entire dash to get to it. Thankfully this one does not need to be replaced. Where in the heck is the actuator for the passenger side vents and how do you get to it and replace it? Already changed the one just to the right of the hump. I have searched online for days. Come out where ever you are!

Well I physically located the passenger side blend door actuator with my own to eyes and hands. I don't have long skinny fingers or small hands to get to it. Looks like a dash removal to me, unless I missed a hidden video somewhere. OMGOSH what a pain this is going to be. thanks for all the feedback.

Unfortunately, my 04 Chevy Silverado 2500hd LS 6.0 the Passenger side AC vent Blend Door actuator required me to remove the dash to gain access to the Passenger Side Blend Door actuator. The forum has been very kind to me so I wanted to make sure I closed out this repair job for others to hopefully learn from like I did. So here it goes - I took apart the dash, see google search to see how to do it. Then after removing all the screws that held the dash in place, air bag disconnect, brackets, sterio antenna wire, and etc I used a pry bar to get under the vent on the right side, be very careful not to overdue it, you can gain about a 1/2 inch of additional clearance, then I unplugged the actuator. I was going to cut the vent to gain access but decided not to go that route. Just FYI the Blend door actuator for the drivers side is just above the hump and can be gotten to a lot easier, the re-circulating blend door is on the right top side and you can see it after you disassemble the dash and glove box. I was able to gain access to the Passenger side blend door actuator and removed the one screw on the right, You have to torque your hands and fingers to get to it with a 6mm wrench. The other screw on the left is a major bear to get access to with a regular 6mm socket. You just dont have room to navigate and clearance. So, I went to Orileys and purchased a 1/4 indrive Ratchet, lenght 3 1/2 long and attached my 6mm socket and had enough clearence to get the screw on the left out. I had already got the screw on the right out with a lot of patience, but would use the 1/4 inch Rachet with the 6mm socket to re-install the new actuator. My truck looks like someone just gutted it with everything disconnected and removed. I believe if I had taken it to the Dealership the cost to do this job I would imagine be in the ball park of $1,500.00 to $2,000.00 if not more, just guessing. I understand now why it would cost that much (Book Hours) labor costs. Only advice I can give is to be patient and take your time or you could break some of the plastic clips, of course I broke one but will not even know it once I put it back together. Good luck to anyone doing this job. I broke it up in two days given it is just way to hot here in Texas (103)F, so it was an early AM job for me because I did not have garage access. Thanks to all the helped me. Keith
