Will a bad blower motor resistor cause the blower not to work on any setting? I've seen them go and only work on a few settings. It's for a 2001 tahoe. The rear works fine but the front blower will not work on any setting.
Yeah could be, he said rear works, but there's a seperate blower for that when I was thinking it ran off the front.i think its the motor that went
 what he said.Unplug the blower motor and see if there is voltage (fan on high should be the full 12 volts) If there is none, unplug the resistor and first look if any of the termanals are burnt/melted. If they are then replace the plug and resistor. If it still looks good test the various speeds (black is ground and one of the orange is constant 12v) If you get power from them, replace the resistor. Also if you dont want to check all that, just take the resistor out and see if the board is burned. The screws are 5.5mm BTW.
I have seen the resistor short out and blow the blower fuse.not working on 5 means its not the resistor
my 96 tahoe was likethat ended up being the groundwire that goes into the heater core box cover under ther dash right under the glovebox .Not trying to jack this thread but I have to share this because my no heat/ no air issue is bugging the crap out of me.
When I bought my truck a few years back the blower would only blow on the **high** setting. Then it became an intermitt blow only on high and last month it totally stopped working. I checked my fuses and all were good. Removed HVAC panel & glove box and checked harness connections for signs of burned wires and all looks well. Figured since my truck is 15 years old I might as well remove and installed a brand new
blower resistor
blower motor/fan assembly
HVAC Control Panel
Blower Switch
High Speed Relay
and still nothing still isn't working. Add super cold temps outside and that equals she'll be parked until the Spring.
