If I ever get enough money saved and I find a wrecked Denali somehow I will do the same thing. Both are two pretty big ifs though.

I’ve gotten everything in the interior pulled except the dash/wiring harness. I removed the 99-02 harness from the doors and have them completed. It was a very simple conversion (so far) and everything bolted right into place. I went ahead and put in new window motor regulators and door lock actuators as the ones I pulled from the parts truck were old and probably had never been replaced. I didn’t even take time to check if they were the same or not, but I’ll look into that and post it here for those wanting to do the conversion in the future.

Everything went right into place though on the doors. Panels fit correctly (I expected them to) and harness ran as it should have. The BOSE speakers snapped right into place as well. I also got the exterior door handles on, although they’ll be coming back off to get painted and I still need to sound deaden the metal. So far, so good though!

I should also note (as seen in the pics) the airbag module stays in the same location on all GMT800 trucks, but the YAW module goes under the passenger seat, which my truck does not have the mounting studs for. The 03+ trucks may or may not have them, but the 99-02 do not have them. I may have to weld some threaded rod to the floor on the passenger side to mount that up, or drill a hole, paint it, seal it and nut/bolt it through. May also drill/tap the floor, seal it up and use a bolt but I’m not sure yet. I’d rather not drill holes in the floor so we’ll figure out something for that.

I will say after messing around with the harness for a while in the basement, we found it’ll be much easier to install and un-pin while it’s in the truck as it’s currently a bit of a mess laying on the ground (tables) and we’re having a hard time plugging everything in since it can’t quite reach perfectly with the dash not in the right spot.

Don’t have pics of the finished doors/ door panels as of right now but I’ll get some when I go back to sound-deaden and remove the exterior door handles to get paint match (current ones are green). Only picture I have with the panel on is the mock-up test fit for the panel. Hadn’t install the chrome Denali handles or anything else when it was taken, nor was it cleaned. Also I fully plan to keep the footwell lights and filters from the 99-02 with the 03-06 interior. Hopefully the HVAC boxes are the same (where the filter goes in) and I can just unbolt that section and swap it over. But I usually don’t get that lucky!

Figured I’d throw in a little update. Doors are complete. Exterior door handles (painted/keys for locks in doors matching ignition) bolted right in and everything was the same. The window motor regulators and door lock actuators are all the same plugs as well, although I replaced mine with new OEM parts just so I don’t have to go back in there as my original ones were getting slow. The 03-06/07 wiring harness runs the same as the original 99-02 harness did, and the airbag sensor in the door already had the bolt/alignment hole locations in the door so everything was just bolt in/plug and play. BOSE speaker clipped in as well, if anyone was wondering about any of the above. I wouldn’t think GM would change the design of the door skins in the 99-02/03-06/07 change but wasn’t sure, so I’m happy everything went in smoothly!

The 03+ DL3 mirrors bolted right on and plug in as normal. The biggest piece of advice I can give though is make sure the window is rolled up before you start disassembly. I made the mistake of forgetting to do that before tearing everything out and regretted it. LOL!

End picture of door panel isn’t fully seated down since I may need to get back in there sometime along the conversion to trace down wires or what-not. But I did have it seated and the bolt holding the door panel in place was started to make sure everything lines up properly. (Yes I know I need to fix the arm rest on this door panel)

The main part of the dash is ready to be pulled once I get a helping hand as well and the 03+ main harness will be installed next! Finally seeing some progress!

This is an awesome thread!!! My name is Jeff and I’m new to GMFS with my ‘06 Silverado 1500, it’s a Z71 ECSB with the LT2 options. I have been debating doing some similar things to mine to make the interior a little more to my taste considering it’s an LT2. Keep coming with the updates!

How did the install go? Please Please provide some finished inside photos

I’m currently doing my research as I am doing the exact same thing with my 01 Silverado! I’m doing as much research as I can & this has been by far the best thread I’ve seen so far. You legitimately go detail for detail on how to do this swap. At this point I’m really invested on how this turned out & if you could provide us with more info i would greatly appreciate it.

Click the build thread in my bio. Already done.

Can you post the link?

In there somewhere. Started life as an 01, ended up as fully working 06 Esky interior.

Kinda salty about the whole truck still. Needed money because of that flood, and the truck got sold. Still regret it, but situations happen.

Swap everything and it will work. Dash to motor harrness, gas petal to abs box. The older 32bit BCM and PCM has no way to control the 03-06 functions that have 84bit bcm and pcms. Not to mention the DL3 and many other options didn’t exists till 03 with the new computer change.
Even if you get the bcm flashed ? I’m currently about to do the swap on my 01 rcsb to 03+ interior with all the funtions. That was my worry if I needed to mess with ecm stuff or fuse box

Functions do not exist on the 99-02 BCM. You have to swap require and swap the whole truck to a 03+ basically.

Gonna need PCM, ABS box, fuel pump, and all that.

Hey all! I’ve got a 2000 RCSB Silverado that I currently have gutted out and getting ready to swap in a built LQ4/4L80 in place of the 5.3/4l60 (once the weather warms up again). Interior has been removed so I can sound deaden the truck and tend to some other things. I’ve got an opportunity to buy a decent condition Denali interior out of a 05 Yukon with the entire harness for a good price and I’m wondering if anyone has ever done a swap similar. I’ve always preferred the 03+ electronics and options over the 99-02 trucks anyway.

The LQ4/4L80/PCM and wiring (I have gas pedal and harness for the electronic throttle body also) is out of a 03+ truck and I have everything under the hood to go with that. Fuse box, ambient temp sensor, wiring to headlights, etc. No cut wires. I’m hoping everything should be a fairly plug and play ordeal.

I’m wanting to swap the 03+ Denali interior with all the bells and whistles over, the DL3 folding, heated, etc mirrors, dual climate control, heated power seats, all the amenities. Everything should bolt up for the most part. What I’m worried about is everything behind the drivers doors. Since this is going into a single cab, I’m not sure how the BCM and other modules will respond since I won’t have the rear doors, lift gate, rear wiper, rear HVAC, rear wiper arm, and probably many other things. I was thinking of un-pinning the wires to all the rear options from the harness which takes care of the wiring mess. As far as the stereo system goes I’m going to be using my own aftermarket amps, speakers, headunit and wiring.

I’d also like to keep the “rear cargo lamp” functional, while the SUV has a “rear wiper” in its place currently. I want this to look and function like it came from the factory this way. Something different and luxurious in a mildly built, fun weekend truck.

If anyone has any input as to this being possible please chime in! BCM programming can be done, but I don’t know how the modules will respond to “missing links”, which is where this long post wraps up to. I’m afraid that removing the items from the B-pillar back will make incomplete circuits to the modules and not allow the rest of the truck to function correctly or cause other issues which will complicate this swap so any info on this will be very helpful!

Also, I’d like to keep the “Denali wood grain” surround on the window switch section but the drivers door cover will need to be modified to a “2-window switch” from its current 4 window switch condition which I’m not sure how I’ll handle yet. Might also try fitting a heads-up display into the dash at some point through this conversion, but that will be after everything else is done.

I’ll keep everyone updated with pictures once the swap starts!
Wonder if anyones still here, I have a question about wiring up some denali seats that I have transplanted into my 2006 Silverado Crew. When initially did the seats/console swap, i noticed that the seat harness from the truck didn't match the plug coming from the seat. I was told these were from a 2005 Yukon Denali. The seat harness from my truck (originally cloth but powered) doesnt seem to have all the pins to support the functions in the denali seats, which is fine, so for the past 2 years Ive only had power and ground hooked up.

The seat moves, but not fully. The passenger seat actually has full articulation, all seat ways move with just the power and ground hooked up. But the driver seat...The polarity is reversed on main lead screw, where pushing forward moves seat back vice versa, plus the overall front to back motion is only about half of what I know it can do. In addition to that, half of the other seat motion switches are not working. I saw somewhere on another forum that this may have been due to a coding issue with the seat memory functions, inhibiting the seat from moving but I dont know.

Anyone done a similar swap and had positive results? any changes I can make to the Plug on my truck's end to allow it to interface directly with the seat harness? Is that even necessary/will it solve my problems? Any helps is appreciated greatly!

All seat motions run on the hot and ground. All the small wires are for side airbags, easy exit, heat and such.

So if you have functions on the passenger and not the driver, then a motors stuck. Very common when sitting up. Try tapping the motor with a hammer while adjusting the seat. Or R&R.

Reverse the hot and ground on the driver seat to fix polarity, and make the switch work right.

Most likely just something in the track stoping it from moving all the way back. If you can get the seat bolts out then that’s all it moves. Personally I was all surprised with how far foward they move, and how little backward.
