Hey all! I’ve got a 2000 RCSB Silverado that I currently have gutted out and getting ready to swap in a built LQ4/4L80 in place of the 5.3/4l60 (once the weather warms up again). Interior has been removed so I can sound deaden the truck and tend to some other things. I’ve got an opportunity to buy a decent condition Denali interior out of a 05 Yukon with the entire harness for a good price and I’m wondering if anyone has ever done a swap similar. I’ve always preferred the 03+ electronics and options over the 99-02 trucks anyway.
The LQ4/4L80/PCM and wiring (I have gas pedal and harness for the electronic throttle body also) is out of a 03+ truck and I have everything under the hood to go with that. Fuse box, ambient temp sensor, wiring to headlights, etc. No cut wires. I’m hoping everything should be a fairly plug and play ordeal.
I’m wanting to swap the 03+ Denali interior with all the bells and whistles over, the DL3 folding, heated, etc mirrors, dual climate control, heated power seats, all the amenities. Everything should bolt up for the most part. What I’m worried about is everything behind the drivers doors. Since this is going into a single cab, I’m not sure how the BCM and other modules will respond since I won’t have the rear doors, lift gate, rear wiper, rear HVAC, rear wiper arm, and probably many other things. I was thinking of un-pinning the wires to all the rear options from the harness which takes care of the wiring mess. As far as the stereo system goes I’m going to be using my own aftermarket amps, speakers, headunit and wiring.
I’d also like to keep the “rear cargo lamp” functional, while the SUV has a “rear wiper” in its place currently. I want this to look and function like it came from the factory this way. Something different and luxurious in a mildly built, fun weekend truck.
If anyone has any input as to this being possible please chime in! BCM programming can be done, but I don’t know how the modules will respond to “missing links”, which is where this long post wraps up to. I’m afraid that removing the items from the B-pillar back will make incomplete circuits to the modules and not allow the rest of the truck to function correctly or cause other issues which will complicate this swap so any info on this will be very helpful!
Also, I’d like to keep the “Denali wood grain” surround on the window switch section but the drivers door cover will need to be modified to a “2-window switch” from its current 4 window switch condition which I’m not sure how I’ll handle yet. Might also try fitting a heads-up display into the dash at some point through this conversion, but that will be after everything else is done.
I’ll keep everyone updated with pictures once the swap starts!
