Hey just reading up on the swap here and I've found a 2005 ex-police Tahoe 2wd with the hydroboost that is getting parted out locally, anyone have any information if the parts would be the same for my 2003 Silverado 2wd?

So far I'm thinking I need the hydroboost assembly with assorted hoses, brake pedal assembly.. Should I take the power steering pump as well? Do I need anything else?

I'm also hoping to take the alternator assuming it is probably a 200 amp to upgrade from my 105 amp stock alternator. Would the ex-police Tahoe have anything else that I might want or anything any member would like?

Thanks in advance

I want to do this to my 1995 k1500.
The ABS is broken and rear wheel brakes barely seem to engage at all, a recent inspection showed the shoes are still more than half there! I'm either going to replace the ABS pump or pull it and instal a non ABS truck's prop valve and maybe its MC (if its different?).
That will hopefully fix that problem, but my brakes were poor when the truck was new and the ABS was still working. So i'm thinking a hydroboost conversion could greatly improve braking performance.
So anyone have any experience with the conversion on my body style? A quick search through this thread didn't turn up anything.
Do I have to stick with hydroboost from my body style or can I use a system from a newer truck? I'm guessing the pedal from a newer truck will not fit mine?

Any assistance greatly appreciated!

Looking to do this soon on my 03 RWD silverado. But I cannot find info on lines or cons of this install w/ rack & pinion. Would also like to use the nnbs components if possible.

Please let me know if you've done this to your RWD!

Why use stuff off of NNBS trucks when it's not guaranteed to be the same fit? Use the parts from a 99-06 since the firewalls are the same and you won't have to guess around with mounting it. I swapped to hydroboost in my crew cab. It is different but if I were to do it again, I probably would've stayed with vacuum assisted brakes. Also, the lines are different. I initially had lines from a 2002 Duramax on my hydroboost setup but they developed leaks. When I bought hoses this past time from the dealership, I got them for a 2005 6L 2500 truck and the hoses were longer. Guess this is just a discrepancy between gas/diesel. Also, my booster came from an escalade. I didn't know until after I had purchased it that the brake fluid reservoir has a nipple on it with a line that runs elsewhere. If using a hydrobooster from a SUV, you may want to make sure that it doesn't have this nipple. Mine is capped off but I keep waiting for it to piss brake fluid everywhere.

Thanks xlcooplx. So you think it's not worth the trouble to swap? I'm upgrading to 2010' avalanche brakes this week. I thought that I might as well do the hydroboost later but ill have to wait and see the results of the nnbs brakes bf I decide. I may not even need hydroboost, but I'm sure my vac booster is weak due to hi mileage (175k).

I'd be telling a lie if I said there isn't any difference. My hydroboost swap just plagued me with issues from the start. I ended up installing/uninstalling the hydrobooster twice because of issues. I've also now pulled the alt bracket three times dealing with the hydrobooster lines.

Good Morning, I have a 1982 C30 with Hydro Boost and it also has a regular looking power brake booster behind it. I've looked at many systems and was wondering if this was an add-on or part of the factory break system. Great site, great information. Thanks

going to the junk yard this coming weekend to find one!! need to do it my tire is sitting on the brake booster

So I bought all the stuff to do this swap but forgot about the high pressure lines. I called the local junk yard and asked about one off an 06 tahoe like the post stated but they didnt have any in stock. Do you know the part number to get these offline somewhere or other vehicles aside from avalanche, tahoe, excalade to get the parts off of? was hoping to get this finished this weekend. Thank you!

anyone figured out how to get rid of the reduce brake power I not have after this install?

best swap ever! did it about a year ago on my truck, used all the part numbers provided, and only had to tweak the line that goes from the hydroboost to my rack a lil bit. i have a little issue now though, every once in a while it feels like my brakes are dragging on the freeway, and i can pull up on the brake pedal, and it goes away. anyone know what would cause this? thinking the master may have took a shit. second opinions?

which unit? i bench bleeded the master, then used the pressure bleeder that pushes brake fluid threw the whole system.

So I called rock auto and they told me the part numbers that were listed in this thread back around page 7 were never sold through there nor do they sell any brake lines or pedals. Anyone have the part numbers they ordered from there would help out A LOT! thanks!
