Cuz it's a v6. Have u ever heard a v6 with a exhaust system. It sounds like crap. It's a shitty motor. U should of gotten a v8 if u were goin to do mods like that to it.

I was really thinking of modding it when I started. I didn't know anything about it prior to purcashing the truck. Total noobie here.

The vehicle currently has dual exhaust with Magnaflow(not sure of model) with 2" pipes. It does have a nice low rumble(imo) But since I can't afford a new crate engine, and am not a mechanic rebuilding and dropping a new one in is out of the question for now.

I'd love to drop a nice big block in there if anyone wants to donate me a cherried out engine and trans for Xmas :)

im sure somebody makes some... cesar why are you bashin? if thats what hes got to work with then thats what hes got to work with- nothin wrong with that. im sure with a good exhuast system, intake, and tune that truck would get pretty decent gas mileage

I'm not bashing on him. He asked for addvise like Bruce said save that money for a 5.3 or 6.0. Seriously u would modify a v6 bighoss

I would love to save for a new engine, however I am married lol so saving for a new engine is not a big priority. I'll start saving my pocket change lol

seriously, i have modified a 4.3L... comp 266HR camshaft, rockers, springs, ported heads, ported lower intake manifold, tb diffusor mod, intake, exhuast, wait4me tune, lt1 e-fan setup... among other things, built 4L60E with better internals, beast sunshell, b&m kit, corvette solenoid, looser converter, 4.56's... it was pretty stout. the guy was just asking about headers- thats it. just headers. people got on here and questioned why he would put headers on his truck which is a rhetorical question...

I ask questions when i don't understand, and I can't understand why a person would waste money and making the 4.3 fast.

He could build a decent 4.3 for a reasonable price. Find a 4.3 Mercruiser boat motor (some have 250ish hp) the 4.3 truck motors are only 190hp. get the cam/heads & intake and he could make a stout motor(for being a v6) heck now the friggin ruststangs come with 305hp v6's

But why when he could drop in a LQ4 for $800?

Cause everything I do to my 4.8 can be swapped over to a 6.0 when I'm ready for it?

You guys honestly think for $800 I can get a V8 completely installed and up in running? Not one that has 200k miles on it either :)

It's only fast in an S10 or Sonoma :imo
agreed, i just think its funny when this guy asks a question and everyone bashes just becuase its a v6. why not put a set of longtubes on a 4.3L? like said im sure it will help just a little bit even if the diff. is negligable. i bet with some cheap bolt ons he could squeeze a couple hp and mpg out of it...
