Mud Tire Road Noise

I've got a 2015 1500 LT Z71 and I'm looking to put a rough country 2.5" leveling kit so I can run 285s. I know some of this might be a little contradictory but I want a good aggressive mud tire that is decently long lasting and has a howl that is nice and noticeable but isn't so bad I can't hear my radio or talk with the windows up. I still want to be able to be heard and have a nice howl though. I guess you could say I'm looking for a midrange road noise. Also looking for a smoother ride if possible considering i do about 85-90% on road driving. Any and all suggestions and opinions appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Do a Nitto Ridge Grappler or Toyo RT, there more aggressive looking then a AT but not quite a full blown MT.

How's the noise on the road with either? It's been so difficult to find info on just a good midrange tire. It's either people looking for the quietest possible or looking for like boggers or something like that.

I’ve had both and currently running the Toyo RT on stock wheels for winter. Road noise is nearly the same as the Toyo MT I run on my summer wheels. RT’s have a 45k tread warranty though.

Oh wow that's nice. Have you ever owned/ran the nitto trail grapplers? Didn't know what kind of life people were getting out of those but that was another one i was looking at. Right now my options are looking like toyo mts or rts, bf Goodrich km2, or trail grappler.

My tires have gnarly tread and no issues hearing wife bitch at me while driving. Very subjective topic. If you want to hear your tires any of them will do that.If you don’t want them to be really loud stay away from Interco

Most if not all MT's will make noise on the road.

The Cooper S/T MAXX have a good combination of aggressive looks from the side, but also a good highway tread. I have not tried these personally, jmo. I'm thinking about getting some next.

Mud Grapplers are good loud but good I got 40000 out of mine 33 12.50 on 17x9" and I got a brand new set siting in the shop.
My boss has Ridge Grapplers on his f250 they're doing pretty good and his truck weighs 10000 with all his crap on it

Not mud tires but closest i have had were falken wildpeak at3w and they are quiet for how aggressive they look. Also seems to be getting good wear out of them.

Toyo OC M/T's makes puppies wet

Mud Grapps have a great sound and the tread wear is great but it mostly depends on tire PSI, rotation and balancing. I have almost 21k miles on mine and they’re about 50% tread left but they ride pretty awful.

No one could get them balanced right except for one tire shop who wanted $80 for balancing but it was worth it. Smooth as glass after that but now they’re starting to get a wobble again.

Overall a nice tire for how aggressive it is. Next I’m trying the Ridge Grapplers

I put balance beads in mine worked great for me! I hear mixed opinions about beads though...

I work on a farm tires are very important to me not only do I have to able to run the field but also have to pull cows bfg is the only way to go if you go to aggressive of the tire it's only going to dick you down and get you stuck

If you want a "mud" tire I highly recommend the Toyo MT, they are awesome. I had Nitto Mud Grapplers for a month and got rid off them, you couldn't even think or talk on your cell phone on the freeway they were so loud.

If you want a hybrid MT/AT, I couldn't say more about the Nitto Ridge Grappler, I have 10k on mine and they look brand new and are very quiet.

St maxx is an awesome tire, I had them on my 2011 for about 12k miles before I traded it in. Still had 16/32s of tread left. I didn't think They were very loud but the borla exhaust was obnoxiously loud in that pickup so I couldn't hear them.

I have the MasterCraft courser cxt on my 14 now. They're a good aggressive looking tire but are surprising quite.

I also had the duratracs on my dmax, absolutely hated those tires. Made really smokey burnouts though that my cooper at3s won't do lol

How well did the Cooper ST maxx and the MasterCraft courser cxt balance out for you? What size?

I just installed 35" Duratracs on my 01 2500HD and they're pretty quite...they're a hybrid MT/AT siped and good for winter snow/ice. They're not super aggressive, but I love them so far. I also have the balance beads but I wouldn't use them in a 285...unless you have a problem with the weights coming off the wheels.

I run 35x12.5 Nitto Trail Grapplers. They dont make much noise inside the truck but people tell me all the time that they can hear them coming down the road.

All the reviews I seen said to rotate them about every 5k miles to get the best life out of them. Ive only got around 3800 on mine so far but plan on rotating and balancing them every 5k miles. View attachment 805215
I get rotating every 5k, I do mine every 3k...but balancing them every time seems a little excessive imo
