Need a winch, figure it would be best to get a bumper/winch combo, what size would do? I wanted atleast a 12,500 minimum, but the sales girl at RANCHHAND said 9,500 lb was plenty--is this true? What size would you go with?

On a stock truck, just dinking around a 9,500 is plenty. If you plan on really sticking that truck, a 15,000 or even 16,500 would be the wise choice.

A 9000lb'erer is nice for a fullsize rig...add the weight of a diesel motor and you will want the 12,000lb'er for a single line pull. Sure a snatch block is always an option, but it sucks knowing your winch lines effective range is cut in half automatically because you need more pulling power than just the winch provides.

Id get 12k, thats what most powerstrokes and D-max CC's have around here. Better to go overboard for 200 or so more bucks than be stuck with an 800 dollar winch that wont cut it. :read:
Word, since you are gonna be payin that much, might as well spend a few bills more to get what you really want/need for that heavy ass truck :read:

thanks guys, im gonna get a 12k lb warn. Now ive just gotta find a front bumper replacement that will hold one. Will a ranchhand or tough country front bumper replacement hold a 12k lb winch? Does warn make a decent looking 12k lb front bumper replacement?

dont get a mile marker electric. They suck. 9.5k will do in 80% of teh situtations if not more. They are also faster than 12k. But if your like me and dont want to be stranded, get the 12k. The ranchand will hold it fine. Hell im getting the 16.5k one day just because I dont EVER want to be fucked by not having a big enough winch.
