Ext Cab has more Audio/Video Potential-
Ext Cab has a 2 piece drive shaft for suspension mods that you need to think off-
5.3L can put down more power (No Replacement for Displacement)-
Reg Cab would be faster Mod for Mod if it had a 5.3L-
Trucks with hips are sexy-
Sierra Already has a Color matched front end-

What category of potential? Street, show, etc.....

I would say the ext cab!!! I had a stepside truck and the bed sucks because It is alot smaller than the regular bed. Plus the ext cab has more room for storage and you can have more people in it if you had too.

I think the ext cab is a better bet IMO!!!

there arent any truck shows around here so id say street...

i dont really care about stereo equipment, boxes and subs are just added weight. i never haul/tow anything, and im more about "go" than "show".

i really want the RCSB to do a 6.0 swap. im looking for a weekday DD/weekend hot rod

The rcsb if you're going for go. Swap in a 6.0 and a built tranny and you'll have a 12 sec. DD with the right mods and still be very streetable. Although you can go 12's n/a in the ext. cab too with a 6.0 swap but I guess I'm just biased.

I like the extra room in my extended cab. I'm 6'6", so I barely fit in regular cabs. The problem I have with my extended cab is that I always throw shit in the back seat temporarily, and temporarily turns into a month or so.

Regular cabs feel more like a truck to me. Something about turning your head and seeing a bed a couple inches behind me just makes it feel like more of a truck. For a weekend hot rod, I would personally go with the reg cab.

I like the GMC overall better than the Chevy. I would like to have Chevy if I was going to constantly be driving for the ext cab room. The GMC would be good if you were going to have it as a weekend toy.
